Banana spirits from Hilo bananas proposed for alcohol

Dr. John Holland submitted samples of banana spirits from Hilo bananas to the Board of Trade. The report by Edward C. Shorey shows feasibility to produce high proof alcohol, with 60 pounds of bananas yielding about one gallon of proof spirits. Waste product is good pig feed and the process could lead to a plant for commercial alcohol and eventual brandy and whiskey production.
