Notice to Homesteaders in First Land District Hilo 1904

Office of the Sub-Agent, First Land District in Hilo requests all homesteaders who have proved up and paid for their lots or hold receipts for rents or interest to present them by May 1, 1904. Bids due May 23 1994 with 5 percent bid bond, sealed on blanks from the Assistant Superintendent and addressed to C S Holloway. Proposals require full legal names and plans deposit returned after bid and plan return. The Superintendent reserves right to reject any or all bids.

Vote for Park Name in City Ballot Plan

The Board of Trade in Hilo seeks public input to rename Mooheau Park after public outcry over the Legislature naming it without consent. A ballot box will be available in the Board of Trade rooms on Thursday through Saturday for residents to vote on preferred names including Ocean Park Seaside Park Hilo Park Recreation Park Lihikai Park Pona hawai Park Piopio Park and Liholiho Park. A committee will tally results and report at the next meeting.

U S May Control Wireless Telegraph Network

The wireless telegraph system in the Hawaiian Islands and on mainland coasts may come under direct U S government supervision or ownership. Secretary Hay proposed government control during a cabinet discussion on April 19, linking the issue to military needs in wartime and preventing enemy communications. No final decision was reached, but action is expected to secure wireless control.
