Henry H. Nussbaum of 336 Trinity Place was elected Governor of the New Jersey District Kiwanis International by delegates in Atlantic City. Four Hillside Students Named National Merit Semifinalists
Principal Ruhl L. Custer of Hillside High School announced that four students David Bluestone Jack Cohen Alan Friedman and David Malone have been named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists for the 1961 62 program based on their high scores on the qualifying test. About 10 000 seniors nationwide reached semifinalist status from among more than 15 000 high schools. The semifinalists will take the Scholastic Aptitude Test as part of the competition.

The program covers criminal law firearms arrest techniques crime investigation traffic control narcotics juvenile offender handling prisoner searches and related topics. Police Chief Ernest Voelk said the Union County Police Chiefs Association sponsors the academy to improve cooperation standards and crime prevention methods among county officials. Commissioner Birnbaum said expanded training will boost police service to citizens.
