A fire Monday caused extensive damage to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Steinberg at 1458 Maple Ave. The blaze started in the basement from a faulty electric fixture at 5:05 p.m. Firemen, led by Deputy Chief Michael Marsnick, with Captains Mateer and Carrigino in charge, used masks for dense smoke while booster lines fought the fire. Police rerouted traffic and officials Mancuso Ferrigno and Capt. William Smith of the Fire Prevention Bureau also responded.
