Honors Given At 18th Hillside Little League Awards
The 18th annual Hillside Little League Awards Night on September 9, 1971, at Club Navaho Manor in Irvington, New Jersey, honored Knights of Columbus, Elks Club, Mets, and Red Sox teams along with individual players and coaches. Special awards recognized Elmer Peek and Henry Cowan for long service. 12 year olds received plaques marking the end of their Little League careers. Allen Forman and Max Deutsch spoke as guests.

A four county survey by the Hospital and Health Planning Council of Metropolitan New Jersey finds Hillside ranking 30th among B2 municipalities for doctors per 1000 residents. Hillside lists 1.21 doctors per 1000 in 1970, up from 1.06 in 1968, amid population decline. Newark shows a 45 doctor loss (1966-70) leaving 1.16 per 1000. Morristown leads at 7.78 per 1000. Winfield has no doctors.
