Soldiers Meet by Chance in Korea

Pfc. Louis Sloboda of Hillside and Richard Kaiser of Hillside met by chance in Korea on July 27. Sloboda, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis J. Sloboda of 188 Fitzpatrick Street, was serving guarding prisoners of war when the reunion photo was sent home.

Veterans to swell junior college rolls at Cranford Union

Cranford Union Junior College reports autumn enrollment rising under the G I Bill for Korean War veterans. President Kenneth C. MacKay says 60 have shown interest to begin September 21 with registration opening September 16. Veterans favor pre engineering math psychology and business courses plus evening typing and stenography. A new English review course will assess grammar and composition with frequent tests to place students in college English as needed.
