Route 22 realignment and spur plan map outlined

Union County Board of Freeholders releases an outline detailing the State Highway Department plans for realigning Route 22 through Berkeley Heights Summit Springfield and Union and a spur highway from Elizabeth to Route 42 Springfield. The plan shows 300 foot wide main road lines with 1001 foot leeway and 1000 foot diameter interchanges. it notes ongoing public hearings and that final routes are not yet pinpointed.

Governor Meyner toured Union County visiting Hatfield Wire and Cable Co in Hillside where officials announced plans for a new Linden factory and local expansion totaling 14 billion. He attended a Hillside Democratic Club reception at the War Memorial Building with Mrs Meyner and local candidates, a rose bouquet presented to Mrs Meyner.

Hillside Opposes Crane Route Link to Goethals Bridge

Township Committee opposed State Sen. Crane proposal to connect the Goethals Bridge with Route 22 via a Elizabeth River highway.
