Plans Outlined For Soft Water in Hillside
The Hillside township discusses creating a new municipal water department to obtain soft water via purchase of the Elizabethtown Water Company system in Hillside. Estimated costs include 1.25 million to buy the system and 250 thousand for a new north–south main, with bond-financed capital repaid from water revenues. A referendum will be held if the North Jersey District Water Supply Commission commits to a soft water supply adequate for demand.
