Flood Committee Reports On Hillside Flood Causes

The Flood Committee of Hillside completed a two month inquiry and briefed the Township Committee. Led by Public Works Commissioner Menza the group visited damaged areas and met with county and highway officials recommending corrective maintenance on Harvard Ave Cornell Place Silver Ave Baker St and Central Ave. They urged Union County Park Commission and Union Township to clean the Elizabeth river, stressing cleaning rather than dredging due to cost. Township engineer Fiorletti suggested drainage pipe raises cleaning networks and large basins and echoed that dredging Elizabeth river, while more effective, is beyond township or county funding.
