Cobras Beat Rams In Roselle Vendetta

In a Sunday Pee Wee clash in Roselle the Cobras defeated the Roselle Rams 24 to 0. Key plays included DiRienzo to Selb and Carasia TD runs, plus strong defense with Naples, Kuebler, Winters, and Hallaway providing turnovers and tackles. The Cobras advance to face the Irvington Colts next.

Hillside Week Burglary and Theft Reports Spur Police Calls

The Hillside area reports a string of incidents including a shop and home break in at Tom's Chevron Station and multiple car glass and door intrusions. Stolen items range from cash and a pocketbook to a sewing machine and a car stereo. Additionally youths on stolen bikes were nabbed and later released, with several minor property damages and a dog bite noted in Butler.

A new electric scoreboard at Woodfield Stadium honors Dr Milton M Lilien for over 30 years of service to Hillside high school athletics. The dedication, led by Moe Bierman and Bernard Mandy, raised about 1800 dollars. Bicycle Crash Involving Boy on Street Near Hollywood Ave

Joseph Macrina seven suffered a scalp bump when his bicycle struck the rear of a car driven by Mary Ann Sheridan twenty two on Hollywood Avenue near Conant Street. Sheridan said the rider rode from a driveway at 429 Hollywood and struck the right rear fender before jumping off. Mrs Macrina would take the child to a local hospital. A girl, Jennifer Jill Lopata, was born to Emil Lopata and Bonnie Huster at 6 lbs 5 oz. custody details unavailable.

Two Boys Attack Man and Steal $200 Envelopes

Joseph Zinn, 72, reported at 7 38 p m Sunday that two boys attacked him behind his home, knocked him down, and stole two envelopes containing $200. The youths tore his clothes and fled toward Liberty Ave.

Alexander J. Ilgavizis a 60 year old resident of 531 Chapman St was freed on $5000 bail to appear in Municipal Court on bookmaking and keeping premises for gambling charges. He was arrested at Al s Gulf Service Station 1559 Leslie St during a raid by county detectives and local police the raid marked the tenth in recent months. Car Crash In Irvington Inflicts Multiple Head Wounds

Charles Herter, 51, of 34 Colt Street Irvington, suffered head cuts and injuries after his car struck the Peter Wendell and Sons Inc building on Chestnut Avenue along the Hillside Irvington line at 5 13 pm Tuesday. He was admitted to St. Elizabeth Hospital, Elizabeth. the cause remains unclear.

Lewincki Hits Car In Robert Street Crash

A car backed by 75 year old Frank Lewincki of 1232 Robert St collided with a parked car owned by Kenneth Nick at 1230 Robert St. It then ran onto the lawn of 1233 Robert St around 0 28 p m Sunday. Lewincki said to Patrolman We Prospo that the vehicle apparently had a mechanical problem.
