Ferrigno Chosen Hillside Mayor for 1970

Alexander J. Menza, Hillside mayor, announced that Commissioner Carmen J. Ferrigno was selected by the Democratic majority to serve as mayor for 1970. Ferrigno, a Hillside lifer in office since 1966 and former 1967 mayor, has a BA from the University of Florida and an MS in Administration from Seton Hall. He has 24 years teaching and coaching at Hillside High and holds key community roles.

Hillside Week Converts Property to Parking and Offices

The corner property at Maple and Williamson is planned for demolition and conversion by Harold Carrillo Associates, Inc. into a parking area with second and floor space turned into offices. Former owner was Max Rettig. Police reports list multiple thefts, accidents, and incidents including a battery theft from a Metuchen car, a ruptured artery at a Williamson Ave home, money missing at Herbert Chevrolet, a school fall injury, a Jiffy Manufacturing fire, a brush fire, a hit and run at Bristol-Myers, a tractor theft, a break in at Rahner’s, missing snow plows, and a stolen car from a lot.
