William H. Runton postmaster announced normal delivery and window service on Friday May 29 1970. Saturday May 30 1970 Memorial Day no mail delivery by city carriers no window service. Mail collection from main office stations and branches at 12 Noon with special delivery. Sunday May 31 normal collection service.

Arrest of Teen at Hillside Ave on Drug Charges

Achilles J. Teatris nineteen of 1216 Howard Street was arrested at 1315 p.m. Thursday in the back yard of 58 Hillside Avenue by detectives and a patrolman on drug charges. Police said he had sixteen homemade marijuana cigarettes and an LSD capsule. He was held for fifteen hundred dollars bail.

Hillside Memorial Day Parade and Service Schedule

The fourth annual Memorial Day events in Hillside begin with an interfaith memorial service at the Hillside War Memorial on Liberty Avenue at noon, followed by a parade from Hillside High School. Local dignitaries, clergy, and veterans groups will attend. 4000 flags will line the route and refreshments served at the PAL Building. The Hillside High School Band will participate. numerous floats and marching units are listed, with a planned flyover around 1:00 PM.

Break Ground Planned for King Street Homes in Elizabeth

Ground is expected to be broken soon for four two family houses at North Broad and King Streets. Boa Construction Co of Rahway builds the homes on land bought from Kelby Associates of Elizabeth. Permits were issued by the Building Inspector as the Township Committee earlier approved plans for two family and one family homes in the Roanoke to King Street area. A 12th two family home will fall under the Elizabeth zoning ordinance.

Motion Denied On Bookmaking Charge in Union County

Monmouth County Court Judge Patrick J. McGann denied a motion to suppress evidence of bookmaking against Daniel J. Gould 63 of Elizabeth. Gould was arrested March 5 1970 at Lenny's and Joe's Barber Shop in Maple Avenue. The raid yielded gambling slips in his coat. Gould posted 5000 bail and faces an April 4 1968 bookmaking charge from a Hillside raid.

Hillside Community Orchestra Spring Concert Friday

The Hillside Community Orchestra presents its annual Spring Concert on Friday evening June 5 at 8 30 p m in the Hillside High School Auditorium Liberty Avenue Hillside.
