Board Declares May 29 Holiday for Hillside Students
The Hillside Board of Education declared Friday May 29 a legal holiday for all students and staff after a request from the Student Government Association. The board urged patriotism and memorial homage while also amending the dress code to allow student dress that does not disrupt morality. New courses Contemporary World Literature Hebrew Reading Improvement and Study Skills and Creative Writing were added for September. Modular scheduling continues at the high school with Joyce Kahn and Leslie Bahler named teachers. Ten summer custodians will be hired at 1.60 per hour for ten weeks. Mini grant approvals were granted to Esther Tarler Mildred Fairweather and Arlene Goodman. Continued on Page 10.

Twin Winners William and Lynne Pomerantz Named 1970 Graduates
Twin winners William N. Pomerantz and Lynne Pomerantz of Hillside were honored at Rider College's Awards Day 1970. Babe Ruth Try-Outs Set For Saturday
Peter G. Humanik announced that the Recreation Department is accepting registrations from Hillside youngsters for the local Babe Ruth Baseball League. Screening and tryouts take place Saturday morning May 23 at Conant Street Park with 15 year olds at 9:00, 14 year olds at 9:30, and 13 year olds at 10:00. Registration forms are available in Room 30 of the Municipal Building.
