Hillside Kiwanis heard Detective Alois J. Stier urge more parental involvement in teen activities at Townley’s Restaurant Union noting only 40 of 400 parents responded to a PAL meeting. Newark Airport expansion eyed to boost capacity 50 percent

Aviation chief John R. Wiley told the Newark Schoolmen's Club that the Port Authority plans extensive airport redevelopment including longer runways a larger passenger terminal and reduced noise while the east west runway is repaired. Plans Completed For Memorial Day Parade

Preparations are finished for Hillside's Memorial Day parade on Wednesday May 30 at 10 am. The march will start at Hillside High School along Liteky Ave to the War Memorial Building for a prayer by Rev. John Tykes, then proceed to Evergeen Cemetery to honor fallen war dead. Grand Marshal Joseph Diller leads, with Chief of Staff Walter Howell and Adjutant. Divisions include local officials, police, fire, veterans groups, Boy Scout and Girl Scout units, civic groups, fire trucks, and the Hillside Ambulance Squad in a parade featuring a Marine color guard and multiple auxiliary posts.
