Funeral services were held for Kevin A. Brennan 28 at Laskowski Funeral Home Irvington. Middlesex detectives chased Brennan after a report of erratic driving in Metuchen and Union. Detective Rudolph Johnson fired the fatal shot after Brennan allegedly flourished a pistol. the tool was a starting gun for track meets. no charges against Johnson. Prosecutor Leo Kaplowitz ordered a thorough investigation.

Two Charged With Gambling in Union County Raid
Union County detectives and De puty Police Chief George A Shelbourne and Police Captain George Davies raided a barber and soda shop and charged two men with gambling. Joseph Balsano 53 of Newark owner of Maple Barber Shop and Gary Zimmerman 32 of Elizabeth charged with maintaining premises for gambling and bookmaking respectively. Bail set at 5000 each. Material witnesses include Herbert Lembeck and Frank Di Renzo.
