His White Street lab produced countermeasures and improvements to enemy war material, with fifty five inspections from the defense department. Lamb claims over 200 inventions and 128 patents, though many remained secret.

Theft reported of six foot square sod from office building front lawn

Police reported a six foot square piece of lawn sod stolen from the front lawn of the Metropolitan Insurance Co. building at 1529 N. Broad Street overnight. No value was listed for the sod.

Confused Driver Held On Charge

Edward Haller Sr of 377 S Harrison St East Orange was arrested at 2 12 am Wednesday for drunken driving. Patrolman David Brindle stopped him after his vehicle narrowly missed several cars on Route 22 westbound. Haller said he was en route to New York City. He was examined and pronounced intoxicated by Sgt Robert Thayer and held on $500 bail.

Self Service Auto Tire Theft in Newark Park

A resourceful 16 year old Newark boy pushing a shopping cart with four new snow tires was stopped by Essex County Park Police at 10 o clock Tuesday night in Weequahic Park. He admitted taking the tires from Firestone Tire Co. in Evans Terminal after breaking a rear window. The cart came from Shop Rite parking lot. The youth was released to his parents pending appearance at Police Headquarters.

Parade Units For Memorial Day In Hillside

Plans finalize for Memorial Day parade spearheaded by Hill Side Jaycees. Five bands seven precision units and veterans lined up for Tuesday May 30. Participants include Hillside high school band St Lucy’s Cadets Minute Men Elizabeth Legion Band Civil Air Patrol Navy teams Hillside groups police fire and scouts. Parade starts 11:30 a.m. at the high school proceeding along Liberty Hillside and Maple avenues to the War Memorial Building for services. Volunteers urged to contact Marty Prince for participation.

Four year old Mark Leahy of 4 Manor Place Avenel struck his head on the dashboard in a Sunday afternoon crash on Bloy Street. He was a passenger in a car driven south by James J Leahy 43 of the same address.

Two Injured As Car Flips Over In Newark

Mrs Irene Phillips 39 of Newark and her passenger John Mills 31 sustained injuries when their car flipped onto its roof near the Union Toll Plaza on the Garden State Parkway. The crash occurred about 5:30 pm in Lane 6 during rush hour, gas spilled on the road and traffic was delayed. The Hillside Ambulance transported them to Irvington General Hospital and the car was towed from the scene.

Sylvia Swerdlin of 1564 Leslie Street reported to police on Monday that two snow tires valued at 56 were stolen from a 1964 vehicle parked inside her locked garage.
