Hillside High School hosts the final local showing of Jack and the Beanstalk on May 6 at 7 30 pm in the auditorium. Gerry Mike plays the Black Baron and Judy Pincus is Jack with Mary Jane Frankel as Jack's mother. The production features a friendly giant, audience participation, and a Golden Goose egg gag. Tickets at the door are 50 cents for children and 75 cents for adults. The Hillside Players urge community support and invite involvement in the Prince Street Players version of Pinocchio and Jack.

Fire Captain William F. Smith issues three summonses to the Lehigh Valley Railroad for operating engine 180 without a proper smoke stack and for failing to clear way. On April 19 sparks started 10 brush fires along the right of way. engine halted and stack corrected, then returned April 20.
