St Barnabas Nursing School Helps Student Shed Pounds
Gloria Winsome Tipping, a 19 year old freshman at St Barnabas School of Nursing in Newark, recounts losing weight from 174 to 147 pounds since September 1949 through a hospital Personnel Health Service routine. She plans to reach 125 pounds to meet American Airlines weight requirements, aided by family, friends, and Mrs. Rosalie Brady’s supervision.

Five Civic Groups For Center Study in Hillside Area
The Liberty Park Association reports only five of twenty-one civic, social, veterans and religious groups responded to letters urging a committee to study plans for a municipal center on Hillside Avenue. A January 26 Liberty Park meeting will decide next steps as proposals include selling land at Hillside and Liberty and building a center housing township offices, police, Fire Company 2, a library, and a War Veterans Memorial Building. In other news, William Galik, 35, of 393 Harvard Avenue, was charged with assault and battery after an incident at the Polish-American Hall on Bloy Street. he was released on $100 bail for Municipal Court next Saturday.
