Hillside Board elects Feltman president for 1967
Franklin A. Feltman, an insurance broker, was chosen president of the Hillside Board of Education for 1967 at the installation meeting Monday night. He succeeds Walter Howell. Sanford Meskin was elected vice-president after Moe Bierman declined the nomination. Bierman asked for deferral to be in line for the presidency in two years. Four candidates were sworn in, including Jack Valent i for a one year unexpired term and Bierman Attermann and Alfred P. Lordi for three-year terms. Committees were reorganized with officers named for Finance Education Co-ordinate Action Buildings and Grounds Public Relations.

Winds Knock Out Windows In City Shops And Library
High winds last Thursday shattered a six foot square plate glass window at John Albrecht’s store on Yale Avenue and damaged a window at Hill side Public Library in John F. Kennedy Plaza. Firemen covered the shop window while the custodian and crews made emergency repairs. Winds toppled tree branches and damaged several trees. Road department workers cleared trunks from Leo Street and intersections at Buchanan Street with Paul Street, Ryan Street, Westminster Avenue and Connant Street where a fallen tree pulled down a telephone wire.

Theft reported as two autos stolen with valuables
Police said two vehicles were stolen yesterday with articles valued at 230 dollars taken from a third vehicle. Jerry Cianicullo reported his wife Anita's 1957 station wagon valued at 250 dollars stolen from Summit Ave and Conklin Ave between 5 30 p m Wednesday and 8 17 a m yesterday containing 417 dollars in tools and paint. Newark Police recovered the wagon. William Willard reported his 1961 blue corner Able missing from Route 22 Super Diner parking. Norman Katz said his mother's car at 210 Clark St was entered between 10 p m Wednesday and 7 30 a m yesterday with 230 dollars worth of clothing a flashlight and a camera stolen. No forced entry was found.

Hillside Pfc William Berenwick Killed in Vietnam
Defense Department reports Hillside resident Pfc William Berenwick killed in action near Saigon on February 16 during combat patrols with the Fourth Infantry. He died two days after his 21st birthday. His body to be returned and burial planned in Hollywood Cemetery Union. Survived by parents Mr and Mrs Michael D and Helen Nachestz Berenwick and siblings. Born in Newark, he graduated from Essex County Vocational and Technical School and moved to Hillside three years ago. Inducted November 16 1965 at Ft Dix, trained at Ft Hood then Ft Lewis prior to overseas service. Military notice lists extensive family survivors.

Three Injured in Two Car Route 22 Crash on Liberty Ave
Three people were injured in a chain reaction two car crash on the Liberty Ave overpass of Route 22 during rush hour. Injured were Agnes Harding 26 of Chestnut Hill Mass and her companion Agnes B Harding 54, both treated by Dr. Joseph Peyser and moved to St Elizabeth Hospital Elizabeth for care, and Victor Blairfex 41 of Springfield who was treated and released. First car was James Harte 41 of Sum mit and second was Russell Patterson 60 of Scotch Plains.

Four Year Old Boy Starts Fire At Baltimore Avenue Home
Four year old James Peterpaul of 52 Baltimore Ave found a cigarette lighter and ignited clothing in the basement. His mother Patricia Peterpaul, 30, suffered burns while trying to extinguish the blaze. Fire crews confined the fire to the cellar. damage included clothes cellar ceiling and electrical wires with smoke and water damage throughout the house.
