Blaze In Church Fails To Disrupt Sunday Services
Fire Saturday afternoon caused extensive damage to the basement of Fret Baptist Church in Milside Hillside avenue and Harding terrace but services continued Sunday. Fire crews from three companies fought the blaze with deputy chief William Ituolton and Captain Cavien Dill Aird directing the effort. Water pumped from the basement, electric wiring damaged, and a recently built fire track wall credited with limiting higher damage. Volunteers assisted as offices and piano areas were protected and restored.
