Election Tuesday for Board of Education three seats

Voters will go to the polls Tuesday to elect three members to the Board of Education for three years and to approve a total budget of 5 3 4,638.13 for 1969 70. The local tax levy is 2,842,770. Incumbent Peter G Humanik seeks a fourth term along with June Fischer Dr E F Thomas Lenz Robert W Lieberman Vito J Menza and Marvin Weiss. Humanik heads the Township Recreation Commission and is completing his ninth year on the board. Fischer is the lone woman candidate.

Schedule Explained To Overflow Crowd

An overflow crowd at a meeting explained the new modular scheduling program to be adopted next year at Hillside High. Dr Anthony Avella and Vice Principal John Kulikowski described 19 mods of 22 minutes each with flexible times, labs, and a microfilm library of the New York Times from 1850 to present. A parent approved the plan, saying kids cannot turn out worse than now.

Girl 3 Injured In Auto Accident on N Broad Street

Valerie Adams three suffered a head injury at 8 25 p m when her mother's car crashed on N Broad Street near Bailey Avenue Linden. The child was in a car during the collision and was taken for medical evaluation.

Township Budget Sees 5 Point Increase in 1969 Tax Levy

The municipal budget for 1969 shows a five point increase in the tax levy, with the rate estimated at 6.58 per hundred dollars of assessed value, up from last year. The school budget accounts for 42 points of the rise, and the county has not yet set its full levy. total operating municipal spending is 3,163,431, with 1,758,382 to be raised by taxes.

The Women of Hillside will present an American flag to the PAL building in honor of Hill side boys who died in Viet Nam. The ceremony at the PAL building is Sunday February 23 led by Chapter President Mrs. Mariam Kaufman and Mrs. Sharon Masarsky.
