Three candidates vie for Board of Education seats and budget vote
Seven nominees compete for three three year terms on the Board of Education and the fiscal year budget of 2,372,446 will go to voters at the School District Meeting on Tuesday February 11 starting at 2:09 PM. Incumbents Conrada Cammarota and John Beattie seek reelection alongside Zena Birnbaum Seymour Bierman Armand Addonizio Marvin Weiss and Henry Hussbaum. The budget projects a tax rise of about 16.5 percent for school purposes, driven by 50 salary step increases and higher debt service of 31,116 from High School building surplus depletion, offset by a 50,000 surplus transfer.
