Sid Enzer of Hillside Camera Club won best in Class B during the monthly judging with a portrait titled True Love. The judge was Al Niederstadt of Maplewood. the shot used a Hasselblad at 1/25 second f eight on Plus X film.
Airman lat Class Franklin P. Laning Jr., son of Mrs Mra F Laning Sr., of 238 Bradford Rd, will be home December 18 from Schoosterberg Holland on a one month leave. He serves with the 32nd Fighter Interception Squadron. In a separate matter, SHERIFF action in Union County seeks sale of mortgaged premises in Hillside Township under a Writ of Execution. The sale is set for December 22 in Elizabeth, N J, with the property at 1052 Fairview Place Hillside and an estimated debt around 12 408.27 plus interest. The Sheriff reserves the right to adjourn.
Charles Levenson describes a Broad Street miniature racing club called Centre Raceway Miniature Racing Area. Members 15 and up join for 50 cents, racing $1, with a detailed 16 page constitution. The club aims to keep youths off streets and grow into a popular pastime for teens and adults alike.
A Hillside Rotary meeting at Hillside United Presbyterian Church heard an anonymous alcoholic describe alcoholism as a daily struggle affecting about 5,000,000 Americans with one quarter of deaths linked to it. He explained alcoholics drink due to physical, emotional, or environmental factors, noted that AA began 35 years ago and remains a peer support group with members known by first names. The speaker urged contacting AA via the telephone directory and cited that half of New York area alcoholics are women, many in their 20s or teens. Walter Schorr introduced him and Albert Swider thanked him, with the Christmas party set for Tuesday December 21 at the church.
