Mayor WY William Di Buono announced at a Hillside Local 35 gathering that 1961 salary increases will keep police and firemen on equal footing. The Township Committee has approved the measure but the amount was not disclosed. Opposition had grown after a $500 police raise passed via referendum while firemen did not vote.
