Ambulance Squad Aids Woman After Parkway Crash

The Hillside Ambulance Squad responded to a Garden State Parkway crash just north of the Union toll plaza. A New York woman driver rolled down an embankment and landed on its roof. Irvington Amvets aided and transported her to the hospital. A. Zimmerman and Jerry Eben assisted at the scene.

Hillside Rout Irvington 29 3 in season finale

Hillside Comets shut out Irvington 29 to 3 in their last 1971 game, finishing 6-3 and the best Hillside season since 1963. Jim Quinlan rushed 107 yards on 17 carries, Gary Stokes threw for 153 yards and 8 of 10 completions, while Hillside amassed 357 total yards and 16 first downs. Irvington ended 1-8 with 2.7 yards per play as Hillside secured late scores and a final margin.

DeFillippo Announces Candidacy for Hillside Board of Education

Mrs. Charlotte DeFillippo of 122 Coe Ave declares her bid for the Hillside Board of Education. She plans a door to door campaign to counter party apathy and stress that more than half the tax dollars fund education. Hess Named To College Agency In Union County

Mrs. Mildred H. Hess, former Hillside Board of Education president, was named to the Union County Coordinating Agency for Higher Education by the Board of Freeholders to fill the term of the late Mrs. Anna M. Grygotis, expiring October 31, 1974. Hess has led local and county teacher and parent groups and serves in multiple Hillside civic roles, including Woman's Club president and Girl of the Month program initiator.

Fiorletti Named President of New Jersey Municipal Engineers

Hillside Township Engineer Armand A. Fiorletti has been installed as president of the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers at the annual Atlantic City meeting. He is treasurer of Grassmann Kreli and Mixerine, consulting engineers and surveyors in Union and serves as Madison’s municipal engineer. He also is vice-president of the New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers and a member of the Union Township Rotary Club.
