Henry T. Newbold 24, of 175 Conant Street, Hillside, drowned in the Elizabeth Town and Country Club pool on Thursday evening. Two bandits armed with a pistol and a revolver held up Alexander Monheit’s Jackson Shoe Mart at 560 Route 22. Monheit and two clerks were tied with clothesline. The thieves fled in a cream and rose mist 1957 Oldsmobile with $666 from the cash register plus $31 and $5 from victims. Police described one man as six feet tall, about 39, wearing a fisher cap. the other about 5 feet 8, 220 pounds in dark clothes.
