Stan Rubin is appointed principal of Hurden Looker Elementary School replacing retiring John Lopresti. A Hillside veteran of 24 years, Rubin has spent 20 at Hurden Looker and served as teacher, guidance counselor and vice principal at Calvin Coolidge. He holds degrees from Montclair State, Seton Hall and Kean College, and has contributed to curriculum revision and text selection.

Superintendant of Schools Dr. Anthony Avella received his first raise in three years from the Board of Education on Monday night raising his salary to 35,260 dollars. The board approved the 2,460 dollar increase by a 5 to 2 vote with opposing members Michael Flannery and Dr. Robert Parker voicing dissent.

Mayor inks PBA contract in Hillside 1975 76
The Township and Policeman's Benevolent Association signed a 16 page accord ending 17 months of tense negotiations. Mayor Harold Wovsaniker witnessed the signing with PBA officials. The deal includes a 6 percent base pay increase for 1975 and 1976, plus $250 more in shape up time and $100 for clothing. The agreement is framed as a compromise and was reached after final hour discussions led by PERC factfinder Albert Parsonnett.

Gulino Named Principal At George Washington Elementary School
