The new barber shop ordinance requiring noon closing on Wednesdays took effect yesterday. Police reported at least two Maple Avenue violations with shops open at 2:45 pm. proprietors were warned and closed. A third Maple Avenue violation at 4:30 pm was found locked after police investigation.
The Board of Education unanimously approved a compromise to extend the playground program through next week. The plan opens playgrounds in the afternoon and cuts supervisory staff from 12 to 6.
The Charles Wernicke Jr. Chapter 95 Disabled American Veterans announced committees for its first annual dance with Vincent Moynihan as general chairman. Co chairs are Joseph Kokopowiecz and John Sgroi. Board members and ticket staff are named alongside new school appointments of John Lopresti Jr. as Calvin Coolidge School principal and curriculum coordinator, and Miss Jane Krumacher as guidance director.
