Walter O Krumbiegel of 48 Haiden Street to succeed Ruhl by Custer as Hillside High School principal on June 30 with a salary of 13000. Edna Doll moves to Hillside Avenue School September 1 and Rose S Stahnten to assume curriculum coordinator role and salary 9000. Dr Krumbiegel, long Hillside resident, holds degrees from Lebanon Valley College and NYU with a 1955 PhD, married to Arlene Althenn.

Disabled Vets Elect Officers at Chapter 55

Recently elected officers of Charles Wernicke Jr. Chapter 55 DAY will be installed Monday evening April 15 at the War Memorial Building. Commander Joseph C. Chieppa leads a slate that includes Senior Vice Commander Anthony Liniewski, Junior Vice Commander Daniel Seib, Judge Advocate J. Vincent Moynihan, Sergeant-at-Arms Alphonso Minervino, Chaplain Salvatore De Francesco, Treasurer John Syrol, and more. The new commander stated the aim to stress membership growth.

Oakland Estates wall collapse and gas leak scare reported

Hillside Court Upholds Fence Ordinance Case

The Hillside Superior Court upheld the town fence ordinance limiting fences to four feet. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Ostrowitz of 181 Windsor Way were fined 25 dollars in Hillside Municipal Court for a six foot fence, with appeals reducing the fine to 10 dollars. the Appellate Division affirmed the conviction and County Court judgment. Attorney for the defendants was Arthur E. Dienst.

Funeral Held for Mrs. Elsie M. Kabus Schuetzle

Funeral services were conducted at Growney Funeral Home on April 8 for Mrs. Elsie M. Kabus Schuetzle of 317 Hillside Ave wife of Deputy Police Chief Harry Schuetzle who died April 5 at 56. She was born in Newark and lived in Hillside since 1922. Survived by son State Trooper Harry Schuetzle Jr and her parents Mr. and Mrs. William Kabus. ANNIVERSARY DANCE The Hillside Reserve Police plan a May 11 dance at Polish American Hall to mark the township 50th anniversary.
