Arrest of Edwin T. Moore on narcotics charges
Edwin T. Moore, 39, of 1586 Bayview Ave., was released on $300 bail after being charged with failure to register as a narcotics user, being under the influence of narcotics, and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. Detectives Gordon Millburn and Anthony Messano arrested him at his home at 8 a.m. last Wednesday.

Township bans night parking for trucks and buses
Township Committee adopted a night parking ordinance prohibiting all sizes of trucks and buses on municipal streets from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. by a 3-2 vote after a petition signed by 200 residents. Dissenters cited hardship and enforcement concerns, while another ordinance restricting residential areas for professional offices passed 4-0.

Hillside High Spring Concert Promises Wide Variety
The Hillside High School Band presents its Spring Concert on April 17 at 8 p.m. in the High School Auditorium. The Concert Band and Stage Band perform with Gary Gottfried as featured clarinet soloist and guest conductor. The Stage Band plays Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head Midnight Cowboy and Mack the Knife. Admission is by ticket only with complimentary tickets available from band members or at the high school. Free rabies clinic offered at Hillside Ave location
The annual free rabies clinic will be held at the maintenance garage on Hillside Ave opposite Highland Ave. on Wednesday May 6 Friday May 8 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday May 9 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Board of Health sponsors the event with inoculations administered by registered veterinarians. Gerald Kirchbaum of Irvington reported to police that his car was struck on Gertrude St and Liberty Ave and the driver left the scene.
