On Sunday April 4, 160 volunteers from Hillside schools completed the Fourth Annual Do-Some-I-Walk. The 20 mile charity walk started at 9am at the Community Center, with pledges expected to push receipts above 2000 dollars. Wendy West from A.P Morris raised over 400 dollars.

Hillside lowers property tax with state funds pledge
On Tuesday night the committee voted to use 103000 from the state to cut property taxes by three points. As a result taxes rise 22 points instead of 25. Pingry Sale Awaiting State Approval and Use Plan
State Sen. Alexander Menza introduces a bill to ratify the purchase of 30 acres occupied by Pingry School. The Education Department will pay 4.65 million for the tract to use as a facility for severely handicapped youths from Union and neighboring counties, with takeover not expected until 1978. Pingry will lease the grounds at 150000 per year. an additional 1.5 million would fund renovations. Tennis courts and several Master Square houses will remain with Pingry.
