Randolph taxpayers pay taxes on time in recession year
Randolph property owners are paying county taxes at a rate equal to or better than in prosperous years. Randolph Tax Supervisor Wayne Underwood notes residents support their homes and lands despite the recession. A new Acreage Schedule of Values approved by the Randolph County Board of Commissioners will guide tax re evaluation for rural areas, with values ranging from 100 to 300 per acre in poor land to 800 to 2000 per acre near towns and highways. The schedule, based on recent land sales, also covers residential land when a dwelling sits on roughly one acre. Re valuation is expected to finish by October 1976 with new figures in 1977.
