Battle over school funds at North Davidson Jr High
Enterprise reports a contentious probe into possible misuse of over 7500 dollars in North Davidson Junior High funds, with 17600 dollars in potential lost revenue revealed by a new audit. The affair ties to 1974 parent pressure for a north Davidson high school and pits Board member Alex Hinkle against Superintendent E Lawson Brown, while former principal C Douglas Elmore is central to the controversy. The audit notes misused funds were for unauthorized purposes but not gained personally. Elmore later joined the Jay Harley fundraising firm in Charlotte, and his wife remains a county schools supervisor.
