Bossy Foremen Tied to Higher Accident Rates in Plant

CHICAGO (LP) A University of Chicago study shows autocratic foremen correlate with 4 to 5 times higher subordinate accident rates. In a 5-year analysis of a 5,000 worker plant, average departments had six accidents yearly, while two safer departments logged 22 and 26. Transferring foremen altered rates accordingly, and tests linked high autocratic scores to more accidents.
