Smithfield welcomes new pastor at First Baptist Church
The Rev. James C. Cammack of Dallas Texas accepted the call to lead the First Baptist Church in Smithfield succeeding the late Rev G L Gillespie and will assume duties October 1. A three and a half year old girl from Louisburg was flown to Charlotte for specialized polio treatment after flood waters blocked rail lines. Floyd Griffin piloted the plane in a two hour flight to obtain emergency care.
