Carter’s tax plan proposes higher rates for top incomes
In a campaign interview Carter outlines a progressive tax approach aimed at higher-income groups, pledging to lower overall rates while preserving revenues. He favors trimming tax breaks for homeowners and reforming mortgage deductions, with staged welfare and health programs funded by projected revenue gains and growth. The interview touches on unemployment goals, budget figures, and foreign policy roles, including Kissinger’s influence and continued U.S. troop levels in Europe. The Chattanooga Birth Defects Center also notes breaking with March of Dimes to seek community support.
