Thomasville Facility Hospital Funds Favored By State
The North Carolina Medical Care Commission recommends $1 950 000 in federal Hill Burton aid for a new 150 bed hospital in Thomasville to replace City Memorial Hospital on Pine Street. The plan includes $1 000 000 from Hill Burton funds this year and $950 000 next year, plus $100 000 in state funds for Chair City hospital. Local funds amount to $1 550 000, with total project cost about $3.8 million. Final approval hinges on the U S Public Health Service in Washington. The proposal could halt efforts for a Davidson County hospital and alter county politics over regional health needs.
