High Point High edged Gastonia 7 6 in a rainy contest despite multiple fumbles and passes that nearly gave away the game. Halfback Bobby Joe Mickey ran 64 yards on 14 carries as the Bison defense limited Gastonia’s attack and the crowd neared 3 500 for the night.
The standings show St. Louis leading Brooklyn and Philadelphia in the top five with Boston New York Pittsburgh and Cincinnati close behind. Evening results list Pittsburgh over Brooklyn 9 to 2 Saint Louis over Boston 7 to 5 and Chicago over New York 5 to 4 in 10 innings.

Mickey rushed for 64 yards to pace the offense as Gastonia battled back with a third quarter score but an incomplete two point try preserved the lead. Weather reduced passing and turnovers favored High Point in a tight Western Conference clash.
High Point college Purple Panthers meet Western Carolina Catamounts in Asheville under lights in a North State conference opener expected to draw 7 000 fans. Catamounts led by Coach Tom Young favored 1 2 points. Panthers showcase a new High Point T formation led by Curtis McDonald at QB with strong backfield and reserves.
The Chicago Hornets defeated the Baltimore Colts 35 to 7 at Soldier Field to earn their third All-America conference win in four starts under new ownership. A crowd of 18,483 watched the game.
