Garden Gate Garden Club met yesterday at 323 Boulevard with 12 members. Mrs W Linthicum presided and served a covered dish salon with fall flower centerpieces. Prizes were awarded after a brief business session and a game with Mrs Tyree Nabors and Mrs Cil Wilcox.

Mr and Mrs John Essick Jr 1115 Tate St announce son Jerry Michael born at local hospital. Mrs Essick is former Miss Carol Martin of High Point. Ronald Craig Weathers born Sept 10 at High Point Hospital to Mr and Mrs Ronald Craig Weathers. Dennis Rick Fowler born to Mr and Mrs Richard Fowler at local hospital. Jory Bob Jones born Sept 13 to Mr and Mrs J W Jones 27300 EF Lexington Ave. mother Kathleen Lawrence of High Point. Grayson Lee Spencer Jr born Sept 14 to Mr and Mrs Grayson Lee Spencer at local hospital.
Friday events include teen age committee luncheon and moderate luncheon at noon, Adans Club and Agenda Club dinners in the evening, Robins Club and Stardusters gatherings. A 10:00 Book Review Coffee Hour invites YWCA members for a membership drive. Mrs. Cecil Haworth will review a six oclock night dinner for members and their family and friends.
Local Postal Supervisors and their Auxiliary received a national certificate of award for maintaining full membership over the past two years. The accolade, one of five in the Carolinas, was presented at a gathering honoring all members and Mrs. Jack Farlowe. About 30 members attended with refreshments afterward. Forecasters urge stocking cottons for next summer as sale prices remain low.

Mrs L H Warren travels to North Wilkesboro due to sister’s sudden heart attack death. Carolyn Tice heads to Stratford College in Danville with mother. Mrs Bloomfield Spencer hospital patient after minor surgery. Ms P Smithdeal moves to St Mary’s Raleigh to study. Mrs Sherwood Forrest travels to Myrtle Beach after a visit. Mr Rothrock remains in hospital recovering from recent operation.
