Diphtheria Increases Prompt Action From Health Board
Enterprise Bureau Raleigh Sept 13 With diphtheria cases rising to 80 last week from 65 the week before the health board urges toxin-antitoxin vaccination for children. Dr Laughinghouse notes many still unvaccinated but safe, free toxin-antitoxin serum offered by North Carolina officers. Typhoid nearly vanished with 29 cases last week and 58 prior. measles and whooping cough remain at normal or low levels.

Heflin predicts 25 cent cotton price this fall
U.S. Senator J Thomas Heflin in Lafayette Alabama forecast a minimum cotton price of 25 cents this fall. He attributed rising demand to growth in auto cement and aircraft industries noting widespread cotton use in tires tops wings and cement sacks. He said world demand exceeds 1927 output and cotton supports America’s balance of trade. He concluded cotton will sell for 2 cents and more.
