Zoning and Traffic Issues Headed to City Council
City Council plans a public hearing on three zoning amendments including parking in residential areas near business zones, easing hand laundry location rules in Neighborhood Retail zones, and rezoning parts of North Street to Residence B. A second zoning proposal would relax limits to allow motels theaters and many retail stores in suburban and urban Retail zones. The council also scheduled initial steps on traffic problems with five recommended parking changes near West Day Ward and Emerywood to ease congestion at Griffith School for Negroes. In other business, the council will consider selling city property, contracts for police vehicles, city and Municipal Court books audits, two deep wells drilling, street resurfacing, and two external water and one external sewer connections.
