Fossil Shark Teeth Mystery Baffles North Carolina Residents
In Crumpler North Carolina fossil shark teeth dating from five to twenty two million years ago surfaced near a tobacco field. Booker Howell aged eighty four recalled finding the teeth and passing them to his granddaughter. The Smithsonian identified them as Miocene relics and experts note no clear explaination for their occurrence. Geologists from UNC Chapel Hill and Appalachian State University suggest Indian people may have brought them for jewelry. The origin remains uncertain.

Payroll deposits began in July 1976 and automatic bill payments started in April.
