Cambodian Regime Plans Vietnam Troop Withdrawal Negotiations

Cambodian acting prime minister Sisowath Sirik Matak said Cambodia will begin talks next week to withdraw 10 000 South Vietnamese troops. He cited looting and brutality by Saigon soldiers and said Cambodia could replace the bases at Krek and Neak Luong with its own forces aided by American help. He also noted a U S visit by Adm John McCain would speed up achieving full defense responsibility. In Saigon the U S Command reported an F105 fighter bomber attack near North Vietnam during the 55th protective reaction strike as pilots faced radar tracking and potential hostile action.
