How to Play Canasta Wild Card Retains Own Value
McKenney explains canasta rules for four handed play. Jokers and deuces are wild cards and count 50 points when used in melds. A meld requires at least two natural cards and up to three wild cards. Wild cards cannot be traded back to players and may be added to completed canastas. A concealed hand awards 100 bonus points if all cards are melded in one turn without prior melds. To go out with a concealed hand either partner has a canasta or the hand contains a canasta.
