A Dutch steamer Blijdendijk reported sighting a white light likely from an airplane in the Atlantic at latitude 39.28 north longitude 64.43 west. The light moved eastward and the warning was relayed to Halifax naval dockyard via Cape Race.
Brunswick Ga Sept 2 AP repeated disappointments over rumors about the fate of Paul Redfern missing Georgia airman have not crushed local hope he is alive and unharmed. After more than a week since he left for Rio de Janeiro, officials denied a Para Brazil report of a crash near Alemquer on the Amazon. Authorities in Para ordered continued search.
Fog grounded several planes including the Giant Blue Bird piloted by Leon Givon and Pierce Corbu, delaying a trans Atlantic hop from Le Bourget Paris to New York. Givon pledged to try again tomorrow if weather permits, after a near miss over fog and a fuel lightening reshaped the flight plan.

Columbia Sept 2 W W Rogers state detective said he has no statement on the arrest of the Greenville negro for Sheriff Sam D Willis murder. He reports investigations reached him months ago and findings were sent to Solicitor Leatherwood. Rogers will return to Greenville next week to resume the case.
In Greenville, defense lawyers argued a telephone error undermines state evidence in the murder trial of Mrs. Ethel Willis and Henry Townsend, former deputy sheriff, over Sheriff Sam D. Willis death. Testimony showed a late night call to Mrs. Morrison with a garbled message and differing phone numbers linked to Townsend and Willis.
