Alger Hiss to Be Freed on Conditional Release Next Month
Prisoner No. 19137 at Lewisburg will leave the penitentiary after Thanksgiving and go free on a conditional release. He will report monthly to a probation officer until March 1956, with restrictions that could send him back to prison if violated. His family and lawyer say he remains determined to prove his innocence and will pursue writing or foreign affairs as a new path.
