Charles A. Jonas, North Carolina Republican nominee, filed campaign reports with the secretary of the Senate detailing receipts of $318 in editorials and $2,458 in contributions, with $2,000 provided by the Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee.
Harry Holmes sneezed violently causing a crash in Gary Indiana injuring him with a broken nose and several fractured ribs. Hospital doctors treated him for these injuries and released a report on his condition.
A Superior Court jury returned a verdict for the defense in an $85,000 damage suit filed by Clifton Williamson a Black resident of Healdsville against three Durham police officers. The jurors deliberated after a trial held in October.
Three inmates fled the Brunswick county jail in Southport as guard Russ was overpowered during breakfast. Willie Bryant charged with murder seized keys. accomplices Dan Mason of Morehead City and Johnnie, a storebreaker, aided the escape. Russ unharmed.
