North Carolina families urged to grow year round gardens
North Carolina extension service garden specialist F B McCall urges every farm family to plant an all year garden with carefully chosen vegetables to cut food costs. He notes vegetables are underused due to poor planning and variety selection and says cafeterias show only about two dollars of every hundred spent on vegetables. Assistance for planning gardens is offered, especially in cotton counties. Seismic movements in Chile in 1922 raised coast area by three to four feet.
