Typhoon Hester slammed five northern provinces of South Vietnam causing extensive destruction. Nixon cautions against unreal expectations for Moscow and Peking trips

President Nixon urged Americans not to expect quick results from forthcoming journeys to Moscow and Peking. In a Camp David radio address on Veterans Day eve he said the nation is ending the unpopular Vietnam War while aiming to prevent future conflicts. He contrasted differences among nations with shared Earth, voiced hope that this generation of veterans may be the last, and warned against condemning those who served.
