Seagulls Over Sorrento Opens on Broadway
British import Seagulls Over Sorrento opens at John Golden Theatre with an all male cast led by J. Pat O’Malley. The mild comedy, set at a Scapa Flow secret explosives station, earns praise for performances and direction though may not match Mister Roberts in energy.

Bing's Musical Trotter John Scott Trotter Moves to Chapel Hill
John Scott Trotter arranger and musical director for Bing Crosby has bought property on West Franklin Street Chapel Hill and the Bryan Motel near the elementary school to run a tourist home named The Hill House. He is joined by Clyde Mullis of the University Physical Education Department on scouting trips. Trotter, a Tar Heel alumnus, helped form Kemp’s early group with Saxie Dowell and Skinnay Ennis, later arranging hits like Muddy Waters and Got A Date With An Angel. He often returns to Charlotte and worked on Crosby projects including Kraft Music Hall and Crosby dates.
